NEET cut off 2020 indicates the minimum percentile or score required to qualify the examination. Candidates who score above the NEET cut off percentile become eligible to participate in the admission process. The cut off of NEET varies for candidates belonging to reserved and unreserved categories. 

The standard NEET cut off has been prescribed by the National Testing Agency. But, the Medical/ Dental Council of India can increase/decrease the cut off of NEET if the seats are left vacant. The Dental Council of India recently lowered the NEET cut off 2019 for admissions to BDS courses by 10 percentile.

NEET 2020 cut off: Determining factors

NEET cut off 2020 is largely influenced by the following five factors:  

  • Total number of candidates who appear for the examination 
  • The difficulty level of the examination
  • Performance of the candidates 
  • Number of seats available 
  • NEET cut off for previous years
NEET cut off 2019 (Revised for BDS admissions) 

The cut off for NEET 2019 was lowered by DCI owing to several vacant seats across various dental colleges. A stray round was then conducted for the candidates who has become eligible for NEET counselling after the cut offs were lowered

NEET cut off 2019 (For MBBS admissions)


NEET cut off 2019 was not very different from that of the previous years. The cutoff mark for NEET 2019 for general category was 134 out of 720. Candidate must note that this is the score of the last candidate admitted to MBBS in the open round.

Q. When will NTA release the official cut off for NEET 2020?

A. The official NEET 2020 cut off will be released by NTA along with the results in the last week of September. 

Q. What is the cut off percentile for General category candidates?

A. NEET 2020 cut off percentile for general category students is 50th percentile. 

Q. Will NTA lower the cut off for this year?

A. NTA can lower the NEET 2020 cut off if the number of eligible candidates is less than the number of seats available. NEET cut off for 2019 was lowered by 10 percentile for BDS admissions. 

Q. Can I participate in AYUSH counselling if I do not qualify as per NEET 2020 cut off?

A. No, you cannot participate in any counselling process if you do not qualify the NEET 2020 cut off criteria.
