The primary and secondary education department is all set to introduce a facial recognition system to mark attendance of teachers across state. The system will be officially launched on September 5, also the Teacher’s Day.

The primary and secondary education department is all set to introduce a facial recognition system to mark attendance of teachers across state. The system will be officially launched on September 5, also the Teacher’s Day.
In Ahmedabad, the new attendance system will be implemented for classes 1to 8 at 390 AMC-run schools and 822 schools under Jilla Panchayat. There are around 4,000 teachers at AMC-run schools with student strength of 1.21lakh and approximately 7,000 in Jilla Panchayat-run schools with 2.1lakh students in Ahmedabad.
There are 2.5 lakh teachers in 40,000 government schools across the state. Till now, teachers’ attendance was registered online. The government also plans to introduce facial recognition attendance for nearly 70 lakh students at its schools across state from November 2019.
